Therapy for Anxiety
Are you constantly feeling anxious, irritable, and overwhelmed? Are your thoughts circling and repeating in your head, and you can’t find a way to quiet your mind? If you are overwhelmed and losing your ability to focus on the good things in your life, I am confident I can help.
Together, we will explore what this feeling of anxiety is trying to tell you. We can learn to get in touch with your body’s cues, examine unhealthy thought patterns, and work on using practical strategies to calm and center yourself.
Therapy for Trauma
Many women will experience some level of trauma in their lifetime. It may be as straight forward as a car accident, the sudden death of a loved one, a violent criminal act, or as complicated as childhood abuse or neglect, exposure to verbal and emotional abuse and violence from an intimate partner.
However, Trauma is treatable. Treatments are available that combine psychotherapy with evidence-based approaches to include EMDR, trauma narrative therapies, and person-centered therapy that can heal, create healthy mind and body changes, and improve daily living.
Therapy using EMDR
It is exciting to recognize that through research that our brains have a natural way to recover from traumatic memories and events. This process involves communication between different parts of our brain that trigger our natural instincts of fight, flight, or freeze. Unfortunately, we can get stuck in this response and trigger brain responses. While many times traumatic experiences can be managed and resolved spontaneously, sometimes the disturbing images and event remains. If that happens, the overwhelming emotions and triggers may not get processed healthily without help.
Therapy for Depression
Are you feeling hopeless, worthless, disconnects, isolated and not your usual self most parts of every day? Does your day start with a feeling of dread? If so, you are not alone and I can help.
In my experience, many of my clients find comfort and relief in realizing that their struggle does not define them, they are separate from the sadness, and that there are many skills, tools, and treatments available to regain the hope and joy in their lives.
I understand the discomfort and loneliness that comes along with being depressed, and I want to help clients sort out their thoughts, feelings, unwanted behaviors while offering support and care through dark and scary times.
Therapy for Loss & Grief
It isn't very easy to lose something you value and hold dear in your life. Sadness and grief aren't fun topics to discuss, but necessary to go through safely with support. The pain of loss can feel unbearable; however, with kindness and patience, you can learn ways to increase comfort and find meaning in the loss. You can safely work through a wide range of emotions such as fear, anger, and deep, deep sadness and come out on the other side of the pain.
The ability to adapt to a loss is very different from person to person, and it depends on your unique background, beliefs, relationship s, and other key factors. So, understanding all these factors can help you get through the anguish and creating a better understanding of your emotions and nurture a more compassionate self.
